Rockabilly Tuesday: My Summer Swimsuit

So... previously on Rockabilly Tuesday... I asked you all for your opinion on Retro style swimsuits. The favourite seemed to be the classic vintage 40s style, which I also liked. However, upon further thought, I realized I really would like my swimsuit to be one I want to wear. And I would not feel comfortable in a two piece or mock-halter (I would have opted to criss-cross the straps in the back for the fake halter effect). So I went with emulating The Marilyn Swimsuit.

Also, I must apologize, as I really winged it this time, and didn't have the time and/or capacity to create a tutorial.

It has a full fitted lining with sewn in cups. The outer shell is the Caribbean blue fabric, ruched along 8 lines (First I ruched the three lines on the front piece and then the three lines on the back piece, sewed the side seams and then ruched those seams). The front of the shell is a skirt. The back tucks up under the bottom/is sew to the fitted lining for shape.

ROCKABILLY SONG OF THE WEEK: Maybellene- by Rod Bernard

COVETED ITEM OF THE WEEK: Fashion is in the details, and there's nothing more classy or rockin' than a good accessory, such as a fascinator: Polka Dot Fascinator; My Diva's Closet; Rockabilly Biker Gangsta Skull Rose Hair Flower Fascinator

ROCKABILLY SLANG OF THE WEEK:  Moldy Fig -I always thought this meant something along the lines of  a person being 'a square', but it has an interesting origin: 'During the Bop era, fans and players of the new music used this term to discribe fans and players of the earlier New Orleans Jazz. Ex: What do you expect, Eddie is a "moldy fig" and he'll never dig the new sounds.' (source)
